FAQ-1458 Does Comm One run on a MAC

Comm One Software is Windows based and will run on any windows machine.  We have had customers run our software on a MAC using a windows emulation utility, but this isn't something we support because we don't use MAC in our office.

If you would like to try our software on a MAC here are instructions that we found on the website: <https://kb.iu.edu/d/ahjj>   We don't guarantee it will work because we haven't tried it in-house, but if you are a MAC guru you can try it at your own risk.

The following options allow you to install and run Windows or Windows applications on your own computer:

  • To dual-boot between OS X and Windows, use Apple's Boot Camp. This approach provides the most compatibility with Windows software and peripherals, but does not allow you to run Windows and Mac OS Xapplications at the same time.
  • To run Windows in a virtual machine within OS X, use Parallels DesktopVMware Fusion, or VirtualBox. This method will allow you to run Mac and Windows applications concurrently, though the virtual machine does not support as much Windows functionality as a dual-boot configuration.
  • To run Windows programs without having to install Windows itself, use a Windows compatibility layer, such as CrossOver Mac. This option typically offers good functionality for a limited set of Windows applications.
