Set Up Share to Comm One Folder
SHARE THE COMPUTER HOSTING THE COMM ONE SOFTWARE:
- SHARE THE COMM ONE DIRECTORY ON THE SERVER: You first need to share the Comm One folder. It will be named c:\ca20xx if your software is loaded in the default folder.
- RIGHTS: Next you need to assign PERMISSIONS and SECURITY to that folder to give yourself access to it from another machine. You may need your network guy for this part. On Most Windows Versions you RIGHT CLICK on the directory and select SHARE:
CREATE A SHARE AND SHORTCUT ON THE MACHINE THAT WILL LOG INTO THE SOFTWARE ON THE SHARE:
- MAP A DRIVE: Next, you map a drive letter to the SHARE you set up on the server. It must be mapped with a drive letter or it won’t work. Example: X:\ca20xx
- CREATE SHORTCUT: Last you create s shortcut to the caxx.exe file on the server. IF you mapped drive X: to the call accounting, the path might be x:\ca20xx\caxx.exe. If you map drive X: directly to c:\ca2017 on the server, then your shortcut would be x:\caxx.exe
If you get error 1705 or any file open errors, the rights and permissions on the share are not set up correctly, or the program is already open on another users machine when you are trying to open it.
*(Where xx = the version. Example: ca2017 for the 2017 version)
